A chance of sunshine_Chap9

Chap9. Remember?

Can you live with an empty place in your heart?

*****

She was there
He was here
5 steps apart

She was there
He was here
And he knew… there was nothing he could do
to be where she was now
Just to be with her.
She was there
And he was here
And 5 steps, sometimes were just too far apart
Unbridgeable

I wish you stood there like the first time
Just for a little while

*****

Jaejoong watched Junsu dozing off in their car on the way back. He beamed with delight at the pure happiness lingering on Junsu’s lips. The meal was unmistakably very enjoyable. Well well well, didn’t he worry too much? He had always been too unsure if he could let go of them – them, especially Yunho – you know, letting someone else replacing him and take care of Yunnie. He could not be there forever, “nothing last forever” – he learned this fact the hard way out but still, he learned it well. However today, when he saw her meticulously watch out the calories for Junsu’s diet, sneak a small bag of biscuit to Changmin with friendly smile and keep eating Jae’s oh-so-spicy dish so the left over did not appear too obvious on the contrast to the vanish of her food in the hungry stomachs of four growing men, he had a second thought. Maybe there were actually such girls for each and every member, tailor-made and fated for them… Maybe the time when he could finally embark on his own predestined trip had finally come after endless postpones… Maybe… Maybe…

Jae closed his eyes and exhaustion soon took over his entire body. In darkness, he saw light and he saw the green field. He saw the valley hiding itself peacefully between the firm protection of mountains and he saw Valerie – beautiful in her long flowy dress. It was summer – it seemed almost forever. Yet, dreams were short especially those beautiful one. We often woke up wide awake, traumatized with our reality – brutal and wicked, twisted with life and cunning plans played by that lady called Fate. Short after four of them settle down in their cozy dorm, while Junsu had not finished his compliment on the delicious – low calories chicken, while Changmin and Yuchun had not snapped out of their secretive gloomy conversation, Yunho crashed in – disarrayed as if he was the sole survivor of one daunting ship-wacked.

Jae gasped.

Blood was fresh

So was the wound – raw and tainted, imprinted on his beloved’s expression.

-          What happened?

And that was all Jae could make out from Yuchun’s muffle before Yunho’s desperate rant – unsound, senseless and dispatched - out poured.

-          It was broken… didn’t mean it… accident… pushed me away… pure mistake… did not understand…

Swift and decisively, Yuchun embraced Yunho and a short moment after, the five guys found themselves connected in a brotherly hug. Tight and assuring, shoulder to shoulder, arm to arm, their warmth brought Yunho back to sense. He felt almost like coming back to life from an instant death – the moment he saw her completely wounded. Never before had Yunho felt so lost, so confused so guilty of a crime he begged to defend his action.

-          Changmin, why don’t you get Yunho a cup of tea? The tea bag is in the drawer… Second from top. Put in some ginger too. Junsu, go help Changmin.

Puzzled and dazzled, Jae made random orders to make up for the awkward situation. The boys immediately and precisely followed his words as if hypnotized. Yuchun, who had not let go of Yunho’s hand lead the later man to the sofa. What happened? How could a wonderful gathering turned out to be such a disaster? What could possibly…

-          Here huyng, have a sip

Changmin had passed the hot cup of tea to Yunho yet his eyes did not leave the leader just yet. He watched Yunho’s every movement, every tremble with his heart clutched by an invisible hand. Never before had Changmin seen Yunho in such manner. Even that time when he was almost murdered, Yunho still tried to assure members, especially Changmin that he would be fine. Burned with thousands of question, four pairs of eyes suppressed their curiosity, leaving space for Yunho to gather his thought… Gradually, the sweet aroma worked its magic, flushed his nostril with warmth and sent heat to spread energy to every cell. Step by step, Yunho’s almond-shape eyes found their souls. Like a movie which Yunho meticulously played in slow motion, the story began:

-          After you left, I sat on the floor, waiting for her to finish washing the dishes…

He relived the moments – afraid to miss out a certain link, any tiny little sign that lead to such tragic outcome. Eyes narrow, breath held, each and every boy could for sure, have heard the deafening sound of a pin drop – if there was actually one.

-          I stumbled forward and accidentally knocked out something…
-          What was that, huyng?
-          A photo frame
-          Which one?

Yunchun sprang out of his seat, with his body leaned forward – inch away from Yunho’s face.

-          I don’t know. My back was against it. When she rushed over, I tried to help but she did not let me come close. She pushed me away

Yunho muffled.

-          Yuchun huyng, it shouldn’t be the one. I saw it next to her bed. It shouldn’t be near to where Yunho sat.
-          It was moved, I am sure, Changmin. Before we left I did not see it there anymore.
-          Wait, what are you guys talking about?

There was something they knew but he did not. There must be something… some missing link, he knew he missed out. He felt sick in the stomach somehow…

-          Who moved it? She left it there, intentionally told us to not to bother her bed
-
-          I think I did…

Four pairs of eyes, mismatched with anger Changmin’s, squinted with angst Yuchun’s, confused beyond words Jaejoong’s and Yunho’s landed on Junsu’s shy confession.

-          You what?
-          I was checking out her world maps. You know the big one above her bed, and I saw a picture frame, of a guy… Was it her brother?
-          She’s an only child
-          Changmin, don’t cut Junsu’s word.
-          I did not know. It was a beautiful picture. And the photo frame was really nice.
-          It was hand-made by her
-          Changmin, stop, let Junsu finish.
-          … So I thought it was a pity to leave it there. You know, not a lot of people can see it. So I bring it over to her study desk.
-          And you left it there, an inch away from where Yunho sat, you know Yunho, our human disaster – Yuchun asked in disbelief – He wacked everything down within two mete surround.
-          I did not know
-          It was his picture… - Changmin fixed his gaze on Yuchun, sending theinformation across, loud and clear.

They knew something. Changmin and Yuchun, they knew something that Yunho did not.

-          That’s enough… What were you guys talking about?
-          You wacked down her ex-boyfriend’s picture.
-          But they broke up, why must she keep his picture around? – Jae questioned.
-          No they didn’t…
-          They never did.
-          What? You’ve gotta be kidding me. What kind of sick game is this?
-          It wasn’t like that, huyng… It was complicated… We haven’t really figured it out, there are still too many missing links
-          So you are telling me, she has a boyfriend while dating Yunho on television. She has a boyfriend whose picture is still on her table. Because of whom, she was so mad at Yunho and shove him away while he was only trying to help… And you are defending her? Yuchun, you are a work of art.  What side are you on?
-          Shut up, Jae. You know nothing.

Changmin grunt lowly – a rare signal to the upcoming storm of fury. However it was not alarming enough to freeze JaeJoong’s.

-          I know enough to hate her right this second…
-          He died.

Changmin snapped uncontrollably and instantly, his mismatched eyes were unforgiving. They were never as fierce, as painful, as exhausted. Jae gasped and Junsu went numb immediately. Yuchun thought he could not even breathe, his voice cracked as he tried, his very best, to make sense:

-          We saw an article… As in, it was reported on newspaper three years ago… We should have told you but we only found out this morning. There are…
-          We? Who are the “we” here? And don’t you think I should be, no, not “should” but must be included in that “we”? That much you know and you guys said nothing… nothing to me?

Yunho grunt beneath his breath each word heavy and precise like nailed mark upon their bare skin. The living room went dead silent. They had indeed seen Yunho’s furious glare before, every time some idiots tried to backstab Jaejoong, hurt Changmin, bully Junsu or anger Yuchun but never before those glare were directed at them. Right, straight into their eyes…

-          Yunho, wait, you don’t understand… It was really complicated and…

Before he vented his anger into on them – and he was sure, it would be the last thing on his desirable list, Yunho dashed out of the door. Now that – that explained everything. That explained why she was so lifeless, why she lost her minds completely, why she was in such angst. What was going on? Behind his back? In his ignorant bliss, she was suffering alone. Where was she now? Was she hurt? What had he done? Seated restlessly in DBSK van, Yunho brought his hands to cover his face in shame. Even when he closed his eyes now, he could still see her rampaging in that mess of shattered crystal, salvaging the picture which was cut by thousands of broken sharp edges. He could still see her losing senses – numb and indifferent to all possible physical pain for there existed another heartache he knew not like dismal blanket enveloping her.  And he – he could not tear it open and rescue her…

Impatiently, Yunho flipped his phone open and shut. The sky collapsed on Seoul, robbing the last bit of sunshine away. Parents rushing to pick up their children, family rushing back for the warm dinner gathering, lovers rushing to their other’s halves embrace, the city metamorphosed to a river of lights, drowning the lonely people into its rapid currents of no rewind. The van moved with the speed of some thousands year-old turtle, stagnant and unwilling to cooperate. Every second passed by, the stone which weighed down his heart became heavier, unapologetically torturing him with unbearable pain. Each breath was harder as if he was a claustrophobia patient suffocated and trapped alive in his coffin.

He was at the verge of insanity and he wasn’t sure if he could go on any further…

When I move my two feet along this road that my heart told about
To the words which I prayed (Wherever you are)

*****

A shattered frame

One torn picture

Ten bleeding finger tips

A pure mess to clean up

That was left of her and for her when she brutally shove Yunho barbarically out of the door. Slam, shut, and lock what else could she have done to drug asleep her pain?

A letter, which she never had the courage to read twice

A white - white T-shirt, M size fitting

An ocean of tears she cried

That was what she was left with, and whether with or without, she had to make the best out of that much memories, tainted in the crimson of dried blood and the fresh red of newly cut wounds. What had she done? What could she do? For every man that arrived a little later than him, a little too late to salvage her perfect sky which was torn the day he died, she had tried hard. With all her might, she attempted to dissolve him into them, yet his memory float on top, then sink down to the bottom – remained fresh and whole in her heart.
She sat on the floor for how long, she did not know. The special phone which was the only device linked to Yunho vibrated continuously, tirelessly – yet she did not move even just one millimeter. It crept gradually from one side of the table, closer to the edge bit by bit… before unconsciously she watched it plunged down – hit the cold hard floor – paralyzed. She came to sense. Her eyes darted back and forth slowly between the broken phone and the broken frame.

The frame was shattered

The picture was torn

But his smile at the zest of his youthfulness and pride still shone upon her with such tenderness and love… just like yesterday – as if it was only yesterday.

As if she never had it all and lost it all… As if her fragile heart was just found and never abandoned to bleed till drained… As if… As if…

Would the empty heart not freeze up
Oh.. please let ]me know

.
The other line gave out the longest unanswered beep before it jumped into a dead silence in his shock. His mouth went dry and his heart stopped. That was it. He could not take it anymore. He needed to know. He must know what happened. “You can’t prevent what you can’t predict” and while she knew every freaking detail about him, he selfishly did not bother to even read her profile in depth. Could not stand talking to Changmin and Yuchun just yet, Yunho dialed another familiar number

-          Can you help me do a search about this young man… No, I am ok… No, I don’t even know his name… It’s not a joke. This is very important to me…  I don’t know his name. But there must be a link... Yes, it’s her name, spelled correctly. May as in the month. I am not sure.3 years ago, yes. Newspaper report… Do call me back, I count on you…

A non-celebrity friend, someone he could entrust his life upon – the person whom Jaejoong had always been unreasonably jealous of – that was whom he called. For now, that was the only person he could rest his burden heart with.

Yunho bowed his head in a prayer…

The van still could not pick up its speed. It floated like a black whale, trapping a throbbing heart inside. Seoul had deepened in the shade of darkness. Yunho looked out the window…Neon, flashes, advertising board shone brightly but those artificial means of lighting would never be able to replace sunshine…
For along with its beautiful exuberant beauty, there was warmth, there was hope… there was something which might have slipped out of his hands…

*****

I wish you stood there for a while
Just like your appearance as it is
Where even the tears shone

When his phone rang, he hesitated for a good minute before picking up. Flooded with undesirable but crucial information, Yunho found himself stringing scattered bits of newly obtained facts together and painted his own imperfect picture. His face was distorted with angst and when he finally gathered his breath even, the van finally crawled to the gate of the campus.

Before it could stop and spit out its last breath of gas, Yunho had already jumped out impatiently. To his utmost surprise, she had been there for long, he guess, for snowflakes had gracefully decorated her long black hair with their dazzling beauty like little diamond sparkling. Her scarf flew gently with the current of the winds. Her strong frame suddenly seemed so fragile – as if she could vanish right this moment into the snow. But all he cared, all he ever cared for NOW: She was there. She. Was. Waiting. For. Him

-          I am sorry
-          No, I should say that, I was careless.
-          It’s me, I lost my sense. I should not have pushed you away like that. I really do not mean to. It’s just that, if you stay, I could have hurt you… unintentionally. I…

His fingers traced along the corner of her big-brown eyes. And before she could finish her alibi, her confession, her apologize, lost she was. Lost in his embrace, in his scent, in his warmth, she forgot the long-winded essay which she struggled yet failed miserably to cut short.

-          Hush… I understand. I only care for your today; that you are with me; that you are not going cry anymore.…
-          I have to…
-          I am not Changmin who can make you smile. I am sorry I am not him to bring out the best in you. Or Yuchun who is sensitive and understanding… But with who I am and what I can do, give me a chance.
-          Changmin and I, it’s not…
-          I went insane not knowing how you were, not knowing what happened, not knowing how many drops of blood my carelessness had drawn out of you. For my ignorance, I apologize. Give me another chance to make it up to you, will you?

As he tightened his embrace, she was trapped inside. A happy prisoner she was – she was close, so close she could hear nothing but his heart beating restlessly, so close he became the air she breathed, so close she drown deeper and deeper into him. She bit her lips pale so that hot tears would froze before they could soak his shoulder one more time.

They broke away from each other for a full breath of air. He looked into her eyes with such tenderness she forgot existed. While one arm covering her shoulder protectively, his other brought her hands to the level of his eyes. What he saw now is her clumsy cover up – her attempt to shield him away from the pain she kept solely for herself.

-          The 7-11 store inside the campus only has this kind of band-aid left. And I was afraid you would come any second so I did not go further…

She explained, but flushed with embarrassment, tried to hide away her kindergarten-ish colorful hands – which contradicted boldly to her graceful white dress, white coat, and white scarf… But he refused to let go – not even a single finger, not even a tiny bit of her warmth, not even any possible happiness radiating from her.
In her shock, he gently kissed his warmth one by one on her aching pain, on every color of her band-aid, before landing his beautiful lips on her eyes. His breath sent such ticklish sensation – she blushed furiously feeling her heart beats crying out like the new born babe gasping the first lung full of air. Until this moment, when all faltered and her wicked plan succeeded in such distorted manner, it still struck her with amazement how one breath of warmth from Yunho could chase away the seemingly endless winter. May knew what it meant, for once: Love in the ice.

She closed her eyes… and somewhat, somehow, the howl of her past gently withdrew into darkness, a voluntary drown in to the black ocean…

My heart says near the end of this road,
In a place not that far away
We're getting closer

Would the empty heart not freeze up
Oh… please let me know

Changmin stood impatiently on the second floor of SME building. His gaze fixed. “Perfect spot!” He mumbled. Almost 10 years with odds, as a trainee and as contracted singer - imprisoned his youth in the bloody building, was enough for Changmin – the smart boy to figure out he needed privacy more than popularity. Ever wonder why it was darn hard to catch a stalker picture of Changmin? Well, because unlike his huyngs, Changmin watched his front and back both sides and even from the top of his head wherever he went. Come to think about it, it was not as if he could walk out of the recording studio every day handsome with a smile or as if he would always be in the mood to not to snap at that jungle of cameras shoving into his face (and slender fingers trying to grope his ass). So long story short, Changmin had figured out a few places: crucial and personal, like here, like where he was standing at the moment. From this spot, he could see the world outside SME building without being seen. From this spot, he had seen tears of fans out of desperation the same day he saw their rage when H.O.T broke up, then SHINWA, then the long absence of The Grace… He still remembered everything: especially when he was merely a trainee, gazing at the other mortal “gods” – he remembered his lost innocence, and the lesson learned: “Fan will either make you or break you. Simple as that”

However right now, like a predator to a prey, he was waiting for a particular van to show up. Was it a wise decision to watch from afar? Changmin confused himself with opposing thoughts. It was a mess the moment Yunho dashed out the dorm without seeing the need to hear them out – and Changmin did not like it: to be misunderstood by someone he held so dear to his heart – someone like Yunho. Was it a wise decision to stay silent? He could hardly make a deliberate choice that he would not turn back without a trace of regret. However, pushed in such situation, he must opt out for a less undesirable decision: there was no point talking to Yunho at the moment.

… but he guessed, he could not be right all the time. And that was a pity.

A group of cars settled in first. “Here comes the entourage”. Changmin smirked. He shifted his back straight and flat against the wall, hiding away from the street light’s tilted shine. The shadow swallowed his slim form in its greedy stomach, like he wasn’t there, like he had never been there, never ever before.

Changmin watched in silence.

When the familiar van pulled in, Yunho got out van first. Gentleman as his huyng always was, he turned around, reaching out his hand delicately to lead May into the light. His slender fingers protectively traced across her colorful band-aided one. He bent down slightly to level up his tiny face to hers and asked a question – Changmin guessed, which was replied with a lot of head shakes from her. A gentle smile reined on his lips - satisfied… and hers. And he said something, and she replied… And he brushed her fringed aside, and she laughed it off… and…

And they couldn’t look any less ordinary, any less casual, any less truly in love as if those cameras did not exist. Changmin narrowed his eyes before a realization punched him square in the face. He did not know if he should laugh or cry. This was not funny. He knew this smile of Yunho. He knew this… this smile, this ignorance, this carefree bliss. Who was he to fool? It was Yunho – the leader, SM had always used to set examples for other groups – the naturally camera conscious celebrity who never once blurted out anything but politically correct music to the ears.

How could Yunho be this off guard? How could he see nothing else but her and her alone?

Somewhere down stair, the loud music had already blasted – loud and offensive just like SME’s filthy plan to promote their family love. After one after another exhausting lawsuit, the company lost more than they could gain, especially when it came to the credibility point from fans’ favorable eyes. So they started their despicable master plan with demanding Si Won to publish his Bible reading group – flooded with celebs. Then Dong Hae followed suit. Suddenly out of the freaking blue all SuJu boys was made sure they tweet till their finger tips bleed. Oh, what else? Ah! Heechul with f(x) photos spammed the internet. When would you just get it? Nothing happened without a perfectly cunning plan, at least not on SME’s land.

In the mist of his thousands and three questions, suddenly a genuine smile blossomed on Changmin’s most imperfect lips. This could just be the beginning of something new in his home. This could just be the start of something worthwhile.

This could just be the awakening of their forced freeze hearts.

Could just be the spring awakening, of not only just Yunho, but the other four members of DBSK.

It's not the face we know what love is like

89

89 that night, 89.

Suddenly a random number became intimately important, intimately memorable, intimately … Intimately.

89, suddenly this particular number was tattooed on her fragile skin – 3 times, each more excruciating than the previous. 1st, when Yunho’s magical voice rang sweetly something along this line:

-          Huyng. Good evening huyng! Long time no see. This is May, my girl friend.

It hit her with extreme amazement each and every time without fail this pure happiness, sincere eagerness and undeniable pride. As May had often been told: a lie told once was still a lie, however when it was repeated 89 times – she guessed she’d love to believe there must have been some kind of truth in it – that he somewhat, somehow, some ways genuinely looked at her as his very own girl friend.

That was when it became almost unbearably painful.

As she bowed politely – 90 degree and more, loud and high pitch went those strangers’ voices:

-          Yunho, congratulation! What a lucky girl!

Without even one ounce of sincerity – now that, that hurt like a slap across your face, the stinking one that left you with ugly chaotic stars. May could imagine that smirk at the back of their heads. She could hear that mocking tone:

-          Yeah, right, girlfriend… girlfriend whatever!

Yet still she smiled with all her heart. That was when it hurt the most – the kind of pain that went beyond physical suffering to torture her consciousness. Her imagination wandered off, and she suddenly saw herself in a beautiful white long dress, sparkling like little stars in pitch darkness of the vast sky. Her long hair was damp with the salty taste of the ocean. “Where am I?” – May trailed off and the answer came right that moment when the waves mourned a depressing song to farewell the daughter of the sea. She was sitting on a high chair, and when she looked up, she saw the prince’s happiness crushing her heart to crumbs. “Yunho…” She mumbled and the music began.

-          Dance for me, my dearest. Dance for my celebration of true love.

His words were her command and dance, she did. Her bare feet touched the wooden ground of the ship. Excruciating pain could have killed her that particular moment. But dance she did – for none of her physical torture could ever came close to the bitterness her heart experienced. Like the little mermaid who danced her fragile feet upon the merciless shattered glass edges to celebrate her prince’s deluded happiness, May breathed in the toxic air of obvious jealousy eagerly with a lip surface smile. For a girl who knew a little too much of herself, who judged a little too often of her actions and reflected a little too in-depth of her diction, May understood perfectly well, her cunning little heart was tricking her supposed-to-be-rationale brain. As much as she had always prided herself with the usual and sensible way her brain deal with her heart – you know, pure professionalism; she was in shame of the way her heart perfectly ignore the scoring warning of her brain as if it spat back “Dude, give me a break, you hypocrite little thing”

89 acquaintances - 89 times she was introduced.

If we can meet - even when our lives would be shortened

-          She is uncomfortable.
-          Who?
-          May
-          Where? How do you know?

Yuchun raised his voice in amazement, staring at Changmin just to find the magnae’s ones followed a familiar afar.

-          You should be able to tell. She look like she is drowning

Even from the second floor, Yuchun could see perfectly well the suppressing discomfort May was suffering. She pressed her hands on her heart - that place where the chaos rhythm of was driving her dizzy. However, whenever Yunho – who was a little too carried away with all the conversation with other celebrities, laid his eyes on her, the smile on her face never once faded to assure him. Yet the usual radiance of her face drained out

-          She looks pale

From nowhere, Jae joined their conversation naturally as if he had been there all the while.

-          I guess she is not a fan of Super Junior’s latest album then.
-          Care to save her?
Yuchun watched the shadow of Jae disappearing into the dark stairway. “Hero saves the world” Changmin mocked yet a grind formed beautifully on his lips. Yuchun wrapped one arm around Changmin’s shoulder.

-          Well, isn’t it the “Max” we can do for her?
-          Nah, we could do better, huyng. She is totally out of “A-XIAH”. We could do so much better.

Changmin replied with a wink. Somewhere in the back of his head, Junsu’s eu-kang-kang laughter brought the night into life.

*****

As Jae paraded his way across the crowd, giving the least care to the squeal of the female trainees, his burning eagerness turned soak wet icy freeze the moment their eyes met. At the very least, she should have graced him with a warmer smile – or a more welcoming look, but she didn’t. All that he saw was horror and pain. As if those big brown eyes whispered a pitiful pledge: “Go away, Jae, go away”

Offended as he was however curiosity overwhelmed him. Jae picked up his speed, seeing the increasing dreadfulness in her eyes.

-          What’s up Yunho!
-          Hey Jae, where were you? Huyngnim, this is Jaejoong.

Jae narrowed his eyes as he saw the man whose small frame was blocked by the 1.82 meter tall Yunho. He searched in his super memory and dig out of his seemingly endless list of acquaintances to find that name undesirably almost at the very bottom. High position, devour Christian – somewhat of a fanatic, that particular man was someone Yunho had always suggested members avoidance rather than confrontation – for only Yunho could handle such outrageous cockiness and offensive remarks that were somewhat his signature graciously.

-          Jaejoong, long time no see.

Reluctantly Jae pulled out his hands from the side pockets to touch that cold and sweaty palm. Politely he bowed and greeted – trying hard to suppress his disgust.

-          We were just talking about a friend of yours, Jae.
-          Neh?
-          That friend of yours, Park Yong Ha. Aishhh, what a waste of talent. God forgives, he will never be in peace for committing such sin

Widen, Jae’s beautiful eyes exhibited the extreme shock and anger. “What the fuck” He swallowed hard. He was left speechless – deaf and mute. He could hear almost nothing but the sound of his blood boiling through his veins. His lips became thin and pale within seconds.

-          I beg your pardon?

Jae trembled, clenching his fists. His blood drained white out of those ten slender fingers. Yet still, aware not of Jae’d darkening rage, the unbearably loud voice went on:

-          That guy, what a shame! God forgives. Don’t you know those men who dared commit suicide must be beheaded back then in the good old days in England? They would never be allowed on His eternal heaven. Mighty God, look at how chaotic the society become now! No moral. Shame! Shame!

Before Jae could have even spat out profanities or Yunho could have salvaged the situation professionally, out of nowhere, a familiar voice – familiar yet odd enough spelled out in sureness

-          So in your interpretation of God’s words, suicide is such a despicable and unforgivable sin? Sir, who are you to judge? Do you even, ever know the depth of despair?
-          Mind your words, young lady.
-          No, Sir, mind yours. You have done Your eternal Father no glory in offending the rested soul of one of His sons. You don’t even know the man in person, we don’t even know his pain. Who are we to say he loves God any less than any of you? Just because you are breathing, doesn’t mean you have any right

Yunho and Jaejoong stood dumbfounded as the mass destruction fell in front of their eyes. Never before had any one dared go against this petty man’s words. Never before had any female dared to even raise her voice beyond his own. But May had never been just an ordinary someone, hadn’t her? Just that neither Yunho nor Jae were able to predict there exist this side of May – the hurtful one, the pain-driven one, the straight forward one.

-          Huyng, forgive my girlfriend. As a junior, it’s not entirely appropriate…
-          WHAT AN ILL-MANNER GIRL! YUNHO! TEACH YOUR GIRLFRIEND SOME MANNERS.

A rough hand sprung high with perfect aim on the porcelain skin of the foreigner. It was too late for Yunho and Jae to react. But Jae…

He saw it all

In perfect slow motion, the young girl did not scream or hide herself in fear.

She did not act like a passive victim. She stood defiantly with her eyes sparkled in the flame of rage without one ounce of regret. She stood there awaiting the blow, staring straight into the eyes of the attacker.

She wasn’t sorry. Neither was she afraid. As if she knew it all along, and she was ready to take the consequence of her every word.

She was ready to take it
with
dignity.

Heart tingling agony
And soft scar will fade as time gradually eases the pain
